This was on the wall outside my credit union today, and I just had to share. In my mind, I like to imagine the the sign defacer was my age and had just finished making a payment on a car that is currently not running. There must be something wrong with me that my first thought was, "They totally should have used a sharpie. It would stand out much better." Of course, our credit union seems to be the preferred banking institution for the elderly in the area. I always feel like an infant comparatively while waiting in line. So, the odds are that the defacer was over sixty-five and cynical. I like that too. I'm going to be just like that when I grow up... assuming I eventually grow up.

I got SUCH a laugh out of this...and Oldest Daughter (age 13) was standing next to me and read it too and even she laughed (an oddity for 13-year-old).
ReplyDeleteHa. This is hysterical!
ReplyDeleteSo funny. I like to think you're right about him/her being our age.
ReplyDeleteYou crack me up. That is the first thing I thought when I saw the sign. I didn't even see the graphity (that's graffiti with a pencil) until you pointed it out and then I really laughed.
ReplyDeleteHehehe... Those signs always make me cringe. Kids need to be able to have fun or they just get into trouble.
ReplyDeleteThe ball playing part really confuses me. What does that mean? Basketball? Tossing a ball? Baseball? Soccer? Four-square? Jacks? Dodgeball? What were they anticipating happening in the parking lot? What about hackysacks? They're not "technically" a ball. Does that make them okay?
ReplyDeleteIf they're going to be that specifically vague, they should know people will want to challenge it. There are so many activities that fall outside the realm of that sign that would seem to be more disruptive.
Plus, using words that all end in -ing just makes it seem like a joke somehow. Maybe that's just me.
Sad but true...
ReplyDeleteI know I probably sound like an old fart, but we totally need one of those signs outside my bank.
ReplyDeleteI feel the same way as that defacer when I see one of those signs! They just sound so grumpy!
ReplyDeleteI did it! If I had a sharpie at the time, I totally would have used it:)
ReplyDeleteIf you ever get a sign like that, Amber, drop the whole "ball playing" thing. I think that's what really slides it over the top.
ReplyDeleteTina, I KNEW IT! I knew it was you! (Next time--bring a sharpie. I hate poorly planned defacement.)
Man, that sing listed things I wouldn't have thought of doing until the sign said you can't do them...
ReplyDeleteSeems a mixed message...

Sadly, that looks like so many of the signs posted around our town (minus the ball playing part that just makes me scratch my head).
ReplyDeleteMy daughter has a picture of one of the curbs in town that had been neatly painted with the words "No Skatboarding." And this was just one of the line of curbs painted to match. Darn, I was just going to pull out my Skatboard.
